Abstract:

From the relatively rich background of scholarship on Spanish churches in the Philippines initially marked by the appearance of Coseteng's SPANISH CHURCHES IN THE PHILIPPINES (1972) comes an 83-page monograph on the settlement of towns and the building of Spanish churches in the Cagayan Valley and Batanes regions. It completes the lacunas of information on Spanish churches from the northeast section of the country and Hornedo's article promises to add to the magnificent scholarship on the subject of this cultural heritage of the Spanish era.
