Abstract:

Three foreign communities in the Philippines, the British, Japanese and Chinese had long been engaged in trade when their businesses were disrupted at the outbreak of the revolution at the close of the century. The author writes their impressions of the conflagration as well as their attitude and behavior in the face of imminent danger to their business interests and lives.
