Enabling Women for an Active Role in Community Development: A Women, Work and Development Project

Myla M. Arcinas

Abstract:

POVERTY is a chronic problem in the Philippines, particularly in urban communities. The Asian Development Bank reports that a quarter of the country's urban population is living in poverty. In this light, the setting up of the International University Laboratory for Social and Cultural Studies: Training and Intervention - Asia Program, otherwise known as Women, Work and Development (WWD) Project is a welcome opportunity in urban development.
