A Report on the Hong Kong Conference on Asian History

Abstract:

Organized by the History Department of the University of Hong Kong, and jointly sponsored by the International Association of Historians of Asia and the Association of South East Asian Historians, the International Conference on Asian History was held at the University of Hong Kong from August 30th to September 5th. Representatives of the two sponsoring associations, the Far Eastern Pre-History Association, the International Commission on Maritime History, the Indian History Congress, the Hong Kong Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, and delegates from a large number of colleges and universities participated in the conference. One hundred and ninety-one official delegates seventy-four of whom from Hong Kong, were listed. The others came from Macao, Taiwan, France, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Denmark, Borneo, Korea , Holland, Vietnam, India, Portugal, Thailand, the United States, and the Philippines.
