Abstract:

Current questions asked in the financial community revolve around the offshore banking operation's impact on the financial system in the Philippines. Since a great deal of confusion is still prevalent on the subject, a study on the matter will clarify not only apprehensions but also the advantages the Philippines financial system might gain from offshore banking units. For this study, it is useful to review the operations of these offshore banks, the benefits derived from them and assess their contributions to the Philippines economy from a Philippine viewpoint.
