Abstract:

The popularity of street food vending as a micro-scale enterprise necessitates characterization of the business people involved in transactions. Thus, this investigation determines the characteristics of the street food vendors in Davao City. Specifically, it was designed to determine the socio-demographic status such as civil status, income and educational attainment of the respondents. Furthermore, it aimed to find their characteristics as to capital, source of ingredients, number of people involved, and monthly gross sales. Utilizing the descriptive design, the study covered 18 street food vendors in Davao City. Data reveal that street food vending is one of the options that a high school graduate could engage in considering that this business undertaking requires low investment and entails a simple operation. However, due to the limited vision these group of entrepreneurs have, their income potential in this type of business venture is also low.
