Abstract:

The study aimed to assess the perceptions, reasons, and expectations of Level I nursing students of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba before taking the course and the effects in their perceptions, reasons, and expectations in taking the nursing career after they have taken the subject Theoretical Foundations in Nursing. Findings revealed that the subject Theoretical Foundations in Nursing provides a lot of concepts and theories that deeply discuss the nursing profession. These theories and concepts largely affect the respondents’ perceptions and expectations in nursing as their career. On the other hand, these concepts and theories in nursing don’t affect the respondents’ reasons in taking up nursing as their career. Also, this study revealed that the subject on Theoretical Foundations has a significant impact to the respondents’ personal goals and aspirations in choosing nursing as their field of study.
