Abstract:

This study determined the demographic profile of the senior citizens of Barangay San Juan in Calamba City and the occurrence of their physiological health problems. The study used descriptive research design. Sixty (60) senior citizens were selected using the convenient sampling method. In conducting the study, an adapted-modified questionnaire was given and data were treated using relative frequency, weighted mean, and chi-square test. Results showed that majority of the respondents are still married and that they do not experience water-drinking related sickness, food-related sickness, and sleep-related sickness. It was also found out that age and educational attainment do not significantly affect any of the occurrences of the physiological health problems among the senior citizens of Barangay San Juan in Calamba City. It was recommended that continuous support should be given to the senior citizens for them to further minimize the occurrence of any form of sickness and that further studies should be done to find out the other physiological problems of the senior citizens.
