Abstract:

The Technological Institute of the Philippines Quezon City  (TIPQC) ,  in its effort to attain the highest level of accreditation for all programs  has initiated measures to increase the passing percentage of the college in the licensure examination to at least equal , if not go beyond, the national passing percentage. The program which was started during the 2nd Semester, SY 2002-2003 is open to all graduating students and TIPQC alumni who are planning to take the licensure examination.

The offering of free review program, free refresher course, multi-competency based assessment system, and pre-board examinations for all graduates and graduating students have resulted in a significant improvement in the Civil Engineering licensure examination performance, as TIPQC graduates got higher than national passing percentages in six (6) civil engineering licensure examinations from May 2003 to May 2006. Also, the study shows that there is a significant difference between the scores obtained by examinees who attended the in-house review program and those who did not.

This paper discusses the correlates of TIPQC performance in the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination, the TIPQC in-house review implementing guidelines and procedures, monitoring activities, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the program.
