Correlates of AutoCAD Utilization in Electrical System Design: Input to a Training Package

Alvin T. De La Cruz

Abstract:

Computer-aided design becomes a useful tool in engineering and architecture work. Computers are very reliable and accurate. Professionals and students should present their drawings and layout plans using a computer in order to compete globally. The AUTOCAD is now available in the market. This study encourages professionals and students to use it in their profession. The study aims to identify the correlation of AUTOCAD utilization in electrical system design. The survey conducted among professionals revealed that they are competent in the used of the computer, which is a good sign that they will easily learn AUTOCAD. However, in the utilization of AUTOCAD outside the school only civil engineers are moderately utilizing the software. For some students the utilization of AUTOCAD both inside and outside the school shows a very weak correlation. This means that they are not using AUTOCAD in their design subjects because they are only required to do it the traditional way.

In this study the descriptive method was used. The form was distributed to the students and professionals in engineering and architecture department. Findings revealed that the respondents are competent and highly competent in using computer in their fields of specialization. As a result they can easily use the software because some operating systems are user friendly. Finally, computer software has been developed so that engineers and architects can work in a structures or buildings that require time and duration. AUTOCAD is just a tool that will help engineers and architects in planning for the structures and buildings. Every thing can be presented in a very much detailed method.
