The New School Mathematics – Characteristic And Implications

Eutiquio C. Young

Discipline: Education

Abstract:

In the United States there is at present a vigorous movement to reexamine and modify the teaching of mathematics. The chief purpose of this movement is to bring the teaching of mathematics up-to-date by taking into account developments that have taken place in recent years. As a result, major changes in mathematics curriculum, concerning not so much teaching methods as points of view and content, are now taking place. These changes are so profound and far-reaching in their implications that they are often described as a revolution.
