The Catholic University in the Philippines: Persuasions and Commitments

Waldo S. Perfecto

Abstract:

When a university confers a doctorate upon an individual, it wishes to make public profession that, in some way (in this case, in a very poor way), the recipient shares in the same persuasions and commitments which are the institution's own.

What then are these persuasions and commitments of the Ateneo de Manila University, of the Ateneo of Jose Rizal and Horacio de la Costa?

Persuasions which our alma mater bids all of us to consider this evening? It is my considered opinion that these persuasions and commitments are four.
