On Distances of Self-dual Codes and Type II Codes over Z2 x Z2

Abstract:

Three presentations of the graph of the additive group Z2 ×Z2 are used to define distance functions of codes. This paper intends to identify properties of codes over Z2 × Z2 based on these distance functions and to consider those codes that are self-dual and those that can be categorized as Type II codes with respect to the weight functions derived from the two distinct dualities of Z2 × Z2.
