Abstract:

This paper describes how the front pages of two leading national broadsheets in the Philippines report women and women’s issues. It mainstreams the lack of gender sensitivity to improve media’s reportage of women’s issues and to maximize the role of media as a discursive forum. Lack of gender sensitivity tends to perpetuate patriarchal ideologies implying “muting” of women’s human rights.
