Abstract:
This study assessed the personal and work competency in treasury operations of Barangay Treasurers in the six (6) Municipalities of the Province of Quirino. A descriptive survey research method was employed, involving a total of ninety-nine (99) respondents. Data were gathered using a survey questionnaire adapted from a study conducted in Olongapo City. The instrument underwent pilot testing, yielding a reliability score of 98%. Results revealed that the Barangay Treasurers were "Moderately Competent" in terms of personal competency, including knowledge, skills, and behavior. Similarly, their work competency level was also "Moderately Competent" in terms of collections, deposits, and disbursements of funds. Furthermore, the study revealed that there is no significant difference in personal and Work Competency in treasury operations among barangay treasurers when they are grouped according to age, sex, highest educational attainment, and number of years in service. This indicates that they have the same level of personal and work competency. Meanwhile, there is a significant difference in Persona and Work Competency in treasury operations among barangay treasurers when grouped by civil status, in terms of behavior and disbursements of funds. On the other hand, the results also disclosed a strong positive correlation between personal and Work Competencies in treasury operations among barangay treasurers. The results show a statistically significant relationship between personal and Work Competencies in treasury operations among barangay treasurers. These results served as the basis for proposed enhancement capability programs to improve the personal and work competency in treasury operations of barangay treasurers.
