Abstract:

The alignment of student-athlete efficacy with coach competences is crucial for success in competitive sports. Sports activities have evolved to incorporate psychological, emotional, and tactical elements, making the role of coaches increasingly important as they focus on optimizing an athlete's potential. This research examines the relationship between student-athlete efficacy and coach competences, highlighting how they work together to gauge organizational support in sports. The study uses a descriptive and correlational method, involving 8 coaches and 44 studentathletes. It concludes that Perceived Organizational Support (POS) significantly boosts motivation, performance, and well-being for both coaches and student-athletes by providing resources, emotional support, and recognition. Coaches excel in motivation, strategy, character, and technique, which enhances athlete development. Student-athletes show high competence in sport discipline, psychology, professionalism, and personal efficacy. A Spearman's Rho test revealed no relationship between organizational support and the four dimensions of coach competence, as all p-values were greater than 0.05. However, a moderate positive relationship exists between organizational support and the four dimensions of student-athlete efficacy, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis at the same level of significance. It emphasizes the importance of organizational support in creating a positive environment for both coaches and student-athletes. While coaches' competences are essential for athlete development, student-athletes' efficacy is more significantly influenced by the support they perceive from their organization. This highlights the importance of sports organizations providing robust support systems to optimize the potential of both coaches and athletes.
