Abstract:
To improve the current tourism development plan, this study attempted to assess the lower Apayao's tourism resources. This study specifically identified the lower Apayao's tourism resources in terms of attractions, amenities, accommodation, activities, and accessibility. Furthermore, interviews with the selected tourism office employees using an inventory sheet are conducted to determine the profile of tourist destinations in Lower Apayao and distributed questionnaires to the participants to assess the lower Apayao’s tourism resources using the 5A’s. The findings show that Lower Apayao provides tourists with a variety of distinctive attractions, from historical and cultural places to natural wonders. However, a variety of problems, including low ratings were observed in commercial and industrial attractions, amenities like signage are rated poor, and low ratings in infrastructure such as cellular networks and internet connectivity. Additionally, the destination lacks sufficient food establishments, local businesses (MSMEs), reliable electricity, and diverse accommodation options. Furthermore, entertainment, sports, and relaxation activities are limited, and the transportation system and accessibility to travel information are inadequate. As a result of the research, a proposed enhanced development plan was crafted which includes goals, objectives, specific strategies, purpose, and programs/activities to help the tourism industry in the province of Apayao.
