Abstract:
This study determined the
school leaders’ mentoring and
instructional practices of teachers in
Rodriguez Heights Elementary School
during the school year 2024-2025
which served as the basis for a
proposed sustainability program. The
study used descriptive correlational
research design utilizing an adapted
questionnaire as the main tool for data
collection. The sources of data were
the 54 teachers and 15 school leaders
from the said school, Montalban SubOffice, Division of Rizal. The statistical
tools used to treat the data were
weighted mean, t-test, and Pearson-r
correlation. The result of this study
served as the basis for proposing a
possible sustainability program
designed to address the identified gaps
and enhance teachers’ classroom
practices and performance.
The study revealed that the
perceptions of the teachers and the school leaders themselves
on the level of school leaders’ key skills for the effective
mentoring of teachers is Very Often as revealed by the computed grand weighted mean values of 3.66 and 3.71
respectively. Same with the perceptions of the teachers and
school leaders on the teachers’ level of instructional practices as
Very Often since the computed grand weighted mean values are
3.77 and 3.63 respectively. Moreover, there is a significant
difference in the level of instructional practices of teachers as
perceived by themselves and by the school leaders in terms of
the given areas as evidenced by the computed t-value of 3.676
which lies outside the critical t-value. A significant relationship
between the level of school leaders’ mentoring skills and
teachers’ level of instructional practices based on their key skills
in the aforementioned areas was evident; therefore, the
statistical decision was to reject the null hypothesis. Thus, the
study's findings led to the development of the proposed
sustainability program entitled, “Enhancing School Leaders'
Mentoring Skills to Improve Teachers' Instructional Practices.”
