Discipline: Education

Abstract:

This study employed a parallel mixed methods approach to evaluate the pre-pandemic implementation of the selected educational programs of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Mabini District, Division of Batangas Province. Likewise, it looked into the perceived importance of such programs after the pandemic. Utilizing surveys and SWOT analysis, data were collected from 16 school heads and 21 program coordinators, selected through purposive sampling based on their experience and current roles. The research instruments were validated for reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.833) and administered alongside interviews to gather qualitative insights into the programs' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The findings reveal significant insights into the effectiveness of these programs. Academic contests and the "Every Child a Reader" program were particularly notable for their high integration and impact on student engagement and literacy. However, challenges such as resource limitations, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient community involvement were identified as significant barriers impacting the sustainability and effectiveness of the programs. The researcher recommends adopting and integrating a more holistic approach to educational programming that addresses academic, physical, and socio-emotional learning aspects and utilizing the proposed Enhancement Plan.
