The Lay Teacher: His Role and Responsibilities

Aurelio B. Calderon

Discipline: Theology

Abstract:

The story is told that when John Henry Newman was once asked by his bishop, "Who are the laity?" he replied, "I am sure that the Church would look foolish without them." Like all stories which sound misleadingly good to be altogether true, we have reason to suspect that the words Newman uttered were not entirely audible to his listener.
